My Dad has always been there for me. We are pretty close. He is the best coach that I've ever had. We share so many interests. We both love being outdoors, basketball, cattle, Mom, Meg, Blaine :o), sports in general, 4-H, family time, and just being around the ones we love.
Growing up, I never had to worry about being one of those kids playing sports that didn't have their parents there. My parents were always there, as long as Dad didn't have to deliver the mail. Which was fine. I know he was working to give us the finer things in life :o)
I love my Dad so much. He is such a great role model for Megan and I. He is such a hard worker. And, he loves my Mom very much. As do I! My parents have given my the greatest gift that I could ever ask for and that's a great childhood. I have so many great memories. We went on several family trips. One of my favorites being Jekyll Island. Doing dishes in the kitchen with Dad is one of my favorite memories as well. I know..what kid enjoys doing the dishes. But with Dad, we would listen to Phil Collins or Huey Lewis and sing our guts out. It was so much fun.
I like to think that Dad and I are a lot alike. I think we have the same temperament. I try to not let things bother me...and Dad just has this calm demeanor. He can always make me feel better. He always knows just the thing to say. Dad is a great Coach. Not only in life, but on the basketball court too. I miss basketball so much so I'm glad that Dad is a coach. That gives me a reason to go back to WC to see the girls play. I love the way that the girls go to him for guidance just like I did when he was coaching me(or not coaching me...at home around the kitchen table after games)
I also love my Mom. Mom has always been there for me as well. I remember talking to her about Blaine when we first started dating. I know I told her a lot more than I remember, but she always reminds me. :o) We have a good time together. We like to go to crafty stores to buy new things to decorate our houses. She is such a great teacher and has touched the lives of many. I know she's touched mine as well as Blaine. I know we tend to sometimes pick on her, but it's just because we love her. And, I know if we didn't do it...eventually she would think something was wrong :o) I know I've put her through a lot...like sewing...lol...But she loves me for it anyway. :o)
Mom and Dad also love Blaine. And that means a lot to me. I love that from day one, he has been a part of our family. He picks on Mom just like Meg and I do. He helps Dad with anything that he asks him to do. All he has to do is ask.
I want to thank my parents for showing me what love is. For teaching me how I should be treated. For teaching me right from wrong. I am a responsible, honest adult today because of how you raised me. I can't wait to instill the values you instilled in me...in my kids.
The most important thing a Father can do for his children is love their mother. Thank you for being the best parents I could have asked for. I love you both so very much.
